I know it’s a mouthful, but these are simple to make and totally vegan. Which means there’s no dairy or eggs, so even if you’re not vegan but have dairy or egg allergies you’re in luck today. They are also gluten free ( of course ) , need I say more? Okay well, I’ll make one more comment. Flavor and texture is something you may not even find in your favorite local bakery. Smooth and bread like, but not gooey gluey. You know the kind. Also, the kids hereView full post »
Hi, guys! Happy New Year!! It’s been a while since I’ve contributed to this space, but what better way to begin a new post in the new year than with SUNSHINE COOKIEESSS. That’s right; soft, lemony and yes- sugary sweet, but gluten AND dairy free cookies to put a little sunshine in those short and often dark wintery days.
These are a spin on the plain and simple sugar cookie with just a bit of lemon juice and zest, plus a nice lemony sugar glaze to make things extraView full post »
I’m just going to come out and admit it. I have a major issue with time management and punctuality. Things are usually pretty last minute with me and almost always late. This recipe is no exception, since I promised to post it weeks ago on Instagram, but…in my own defense, I had to make it again to record the measurements; something I’m equally bad at. But I did make it again. Yesterday. Just for you. So there’s love in the effort, you see. Even if it’s notView full post »
This cake is so decadent, a little goes a long way with beyond satisfactory results. After our first indulgence of one thinly sliced piece each, we saved the rest to be devoured the next morning with vanilla cashew ice-cream. It was even better straight from the fridge with a firm fudge-like texture along with that thick creamy whipped icing, it was an adventure to be savored.
The flavors of deep chocolate with bits of tart cherries bursting with each bite, coupled with a taste of sweetView full post »
May is here and summer is on its waaaay! Which means, here in my part of the world at least, the blackberry vines are blossoming and producing sweet abundant fruit – deliciously ripe and ready for the picking. Me and my people here didn’t waste a moment on that subject. We packed up a couple Friday mornings ago and headed straight for our local u-pick farm, and came home with a whopping 22 lbs of berries- half of which were blackberries.
My head, heart andView full post »
Hi, there. I’m feeling somewhat estranged from this online space, but I’ve been feeling the pull lately to make a sudden appearance.
We’ve had so much going on in the last… YEAR?! since I’ve been here, so just to give you a little background. If any of you remember, we spontaneously sold our home in the summer of 2015 and hit the road in our fifth wheel in search of elsewhere…The decision was whimsical and sort of like following a whisper. WeView full post »
There are feelings, emotions and deep rooted memories associated with scents of seasonal spices. The one that carries the most warmth with me is cinnamon. It’s the note of autumn, which carries into winter and brings Christmas. Give me cinnamon combined with nutmeg, maybe a little allspice, ginger and of course vanilla, aallll the cool month seasons long. Oh, but then there’s that deep invigorating smell of coffee too- it says, ‘Please come in, get cozy and stay aView full post »
Okay, so apparently I’m a little more obsessed with all things chocolatey than I’ve ever been willing to admit. And since this little blog here is letting the secret out, I see no reason to hide anymore. 😉 Especially since chocolate can be healthy, energizing, and detoxifying with an extra dose of happy, it would be kind of silly selfish not to share the goodness. Don’t you think?
By definition, these are not exactly ‘chocolate’ or from the cacao bean, butView full post »
The thing I love most about these cupcakes is the fact that they’re made only with quinoa flour. I mean, the quinoa flour IS the all purpose flour. No starch or gums required. That’s a huge step you can cut out in the baking process if you normally whip up your own flour mix to start. Saving time on mess and clean up. Not that you won’t make a tiny mess when making these, and there are other steps to making these decadent fudge like treats, but when you’re a busy personView full post »
This cake is like a Valentine’s Day picnic on the moon…I mean, if there was gravity and if you didn’t have to wear a space suit. Picturing it? An out of body, out of this world experience driven completely by chocolate cake. Each bite is filled with total satisfaction and a little goes a long way with its creamy rich chocolate followed by sweet and tangy notes of pomegranate and greek yogurt. Yeah, I put greek yogurt in the ganache. Wasn’t sure if it would work, but itView full post »
Is it really the week before Christmas? I mean, we did NOT just blow through Halloween and Thanksgiving. Did we? I know it sounds cliche but, Time FLIIIIIEEEEESSSS! It doesn’t always seem that way in the moment, but then looking back, it’s crazy sometimes. Maybe that means I’m regretting something…I hope not, and I don’t think so. No regrets! Anyway, here we are in December. December 14th to be exact, and I’ve been hiding. Away from the blogging world. LackView full post »
Heeeeyyyyy, so tomorrow is Halloweeeeeen and the holiday season in America has officially begun! This means you can expect the foodie radar to be set for all things pumpkin-apple-spice and everything festive and nice. I personally love the holiday season and never tire of all the possible ways to dress up your squash- pumpkin included. I especially love sweet and spicy roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin soup with bacon and cream…mmmm…I would love to hear your festive, fall inspiredView full post »
Yesterday, our little love bug had the stomach bug. So naturally, we looked to ginger everything to help her feel better. Ginger tea…ginger essential oil- to be rubbed on her tummy and feet, along with peppermint and Young Living’s Digize diluted in coconut oil, and… ginger cookies. Of course. 😉 You just can’t have a rainy sick day in the month of October without home baked cookies whipped up with all the spices of the season. It would be unlawful if you did. FYI.View full post »
We’ve made it to September y’all, and fall is on its way! Temps all over the country are starting to dip, leaves are falling, and people everywhere are getting their bake on. So in preparation of the coming season, I dedicate this recipe to all of you who dream of citrus and cinnamon, cozy blankets, hot tea, and tall leather boots to crunch through those orange and red painted leaves- with the crisp autumn breeze running through your hair. Oh, fall- you couldn’t come soonView full post »
Since I finally busted the baking code and feel pretty comfortable throwing things together, all we’ve felt like doing lately is…well…bake. Recipe after another is flowing from this tiny little kitchen and quickly filling up our ‘magic potion’ journal. I guess the happiness zone is sort of helping with that too-I’ll be honest, I wasn’t doing so well for a while. All the changes that came in the months of June and July caught up with my womanly emotionsView full post »
